York Catholic's Schrann commits to Vanderbilt

York Catholic basketball standout Kady Schrann has made her much-anticipated college decision. The senior gave a verbal commitment Friday to play Division I women's basketball at Vanderbilt. York Catholic announced Schrann's commitment in a news release. A three-time first-team all-state selection, Schrann is already one of the most decorated girls' basketball players to come through York County. The 5-foot-9 point guard has led the Irish to three straight appearances in the PIAA Class AA title game, as well three straight District 3 Class AA championships. She's currently on track to become the leading scorer in York Catholic's storied girls' hoops history. In addition to Vanderbilt, Schrann received full scholarship offers from Penn State, Virginia, James Madison, Villanova, West Virginia, Delaware, Illinois, Hartford, Richmond, Old Dominion, and St. Bonaventure. When she graduates, Schrann will go from one tradition-rich program to another. Vanderbilt has won 20 games and made the NCAA Tournament in each of head coach Melanie Balcomb's eight seasons at the school. The Commodores have also won three Southeastern Conference championships in that span. More on this to come...
