Susquehannock, Delone crack PVCA Top 10

As is typically the case, a few YAIAA girls' volleyball teams are hovering around the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association's Top 10 rankings.

In Class AA, perennial power Susquehannock is ranked No. 5 by the coaches. Delone Catholic sits two spots behind the Warriors in that class, at No. 7.

Of course, these rankings are mostly just fodder at this point in the year. So much can change between now and mid-October, and it's hard to know just how good teams really are.

Susquehannock coach Rob Marrison was pretty candid about that fact this week. Speaking to the Daily Record/Sunday News' Ryan Dixon on Tuesday, Marrison downplayed his team's state ranking.

"I don't know if we deserve that at this point in the season or not," Marrison said of the ranking. "We're going to be playing some tournaments at the end of the month, and in the beginning of October that will really tell us where we stand."

Susquehannock lost quite a bit from last season, including two-time Division II player of the year Jess Franz and outside hitters Dylan Keil and Jordyn Malone. But it looks like the Warriors have been able to reload once again.
