Kennard-Dale football to "host" first night game

The Kennard-Dale football team will "host" its first night-time football game this October. Even though it will have to go to a different state to do it.

The date for the Rams Week 8 home game against West York -- originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. -- has been changed to Friday Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. The game will be hosted by North Harford High School in Maryland, which is about a 15-minute drive from Kennard-Dale.

Kennard-Dale's football field does not have lights, and the school has never hosted a Friday night football game.

"A lot of people have been working to get this going," Kennard-Dale athletic director Gary McChalicher said. "People are really excited about it."

McChalicher said the event will serve as a "kick-off" to the school's Capital Fund Campaign, as it tries to raise enough money to build a lighted football stadium.

Kennard-Dale has a new coach this year -- Dallastown graduate Andy Loucks -- and is trying to build on back-to-back District 3 Class AAA playoff appearances.
