YAIAA absent from PFN preseason rankings

You won't find much love for the YAIAA in the Pennsylvania Football News preseason rankings, which were released recently.

No York-Adams teams were included in the PFN's Top 10 lists for each classification. Nor were any area squads included in the "Others to watch" section of each respective class.

A link to the rankings can be found here.

Really, it's tough to argue with the YAIAA's across-the-board absence. The league's two most reliable fixtures in these rankings the last two seasons -- West York and Delone Catholic -- both lost a lot of firepower from last season. And there aren't really any other York-Adams teams that appear geared up for a big state run.

The lone exception might be York Catholic, which lost just three seniors to graduation and figures to be among the favorites for a District 3 Class A title. (Another single-A team from the district, Steel-High, was rated fifth by the PFN.) But the Fighting Irish don't have much of a recent history when it comes to top-flight football success, and it looks like they'll have to prove themselves a bit before getting any sort of state-wide consideration.
