Trio of York wrestlers ranked nationally

The national praise continues to roll in for York County wrestlers Chance Marstellar and Brooks Black.

This time, the honors come from The Open Mat, a website dedicated to covering amateur wrestling and MMA (mixed-martial arts) news. The site recently released its rankings of the top high school wrestlers in the country.

Marstellar, who is about to enter his freshman season at Kennard-Dale, was rated the fifth best 145-pounder in the country. Yes, as a freshman.

Black did him one better. The Dover native, who wrestles at the prestigious Blair Academy in New Jersey, was ranked the No. 1 high school heavyweight. He's about to start his sophomore season.

Safe to say, we'll be hearing plenty from Marstellar and Black in the future. We've written recently about both: You can find a profile on Marstellar here, and a feature on Black here.

A third York-area wrestler was also included in The Open Mat's rankings. Dallastown's rising senior Phil Sprenkle was slotted 13th in the country among 189 pounders.
