More national success for Black, Marstellar

A few days, we wrote a post on Dover native Brooks Black, who won a Cadet Greco-Roman championship at the USAW Nationals in Fargo, N.D.

On Friday, Black made it a clean sweep at heavyweight, rolling to a Cadet (ages 15-16) Freestyle national title. Once again he beat Florida's Doug Vollaro in the final, this time winning 1-0, 1-0.

Black, who will be a sophomore at Blair Academy, also won the Cadet Grego-Roman title last year. But winning both titles in one year is quite a feat.

"I just got off the phone with him five minutes ago," said Brooks Black's father, Gerry Black, who was in Dover and watched the matches via webcast. "They were going out because the Pennsylvania team won the Greco team title.

"(Brooks) was very excited. Winning both of them is something."

Meanwhile, soon-to-be Kennard-Dale freshman Chance Marstellar also shined in the Cadet Freestyle 145-pound competition, taking first place via a decision over California's Coleman Hammond, 0-6, 5-0, 6-0.

Earlier this week, Marstellar finished fourth in the Cadet Greco-Roman competition. You can read more about Marstellar's background here.
