Nicholas visiting Penn State this weekend, says Rutgers is 'out'

Andrew Nicholas is not sure where he'll be playing his college basketball next fall.

One thing does appear certain: Eastern York's soon-to-be-senior wing will not attend Rutgers, the school he verbally committed to last summer.

Nicholas reconsidered his commitment to the Scarlet Knights in April, when then-coach Fred Hill resigned following a profanity-laden outburst at a Rutgers baseball game.

Nicholas said new Rutgers coach Mike Rice reached out to him shortly after being hired. Two weeks after that conversation, Nicholas informed Rice of his decommitment.

It doesn't look like there's any going back, either.

"They're out," Nicholas said of Rutgers on Friday night.

For the time being, the 6-foot-6 sharpshooter has zeroed in on two schools: St. Joseph's and Penn State. He visited with St. Joe's coaches on Monday, and was planning to spend his Saturday touring Penn State.

But Nicholas is keeping his options open. He wants to see what schools contact him during July's evaluation period.
