Jennifer Learmonth will head north to continue her tennis career.

The former Central York star, a four-time Daily Record/Sunday News all-star selection, recently signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Connecticut next year.

A polished player with a excellent baseline game, Learmonth won her second consecutive YAIAA Class AAA singles championship last fall. During this year's tournament, she only dropped three games in five matches. Learmonth later reached the semifinals of the District 3 tournament.

Learmonth was the area player of the year her final two seasons at Central. She'll join a Connecticut program which finished 8-10 last season (4-6 in Big East play).

The former Panther won't be the Huskies only York connection: York Suburban grad Katie Mortiz will be a senior with the team next season.

Here is Learmonth's profile on tennisrecruiting.net, which considers her a four-star recruit (out of five).
