Hill officially out as Rutgers basketball coach

I didn't think I'd have to wait this long to write this blog post, but finally the messy divorce between Fred Hill and Rutgers University is now over. Hill resigned as the Scarlet Knights men's basketball coach on Monday, accepting a healthy settlement fee and ending a two-week standoff with the school, which sought to fire Hill with cause for an outburst during a Rutgers baseball game on April 1.

This is important to York-area hoops fans because Eastern York's Andrew Nicholas had verbally committed to Rutgers last summer. The 6-foot-6 wing said two weeks ago that if Hill was fired, he would re-open his college search.

The Rutgers program has certainly seen better days. Besides its dismal record during the last four years, the team's best player, guard Mike Rosario, has announced he will transfer to Florida.
