Recruiting update: Where area's best are going

Wednesday marked the start of the regular signing period for high school basketball players, meaning athletes who had verbally committed to schools recently could finally sign their binding National Letter of Intent.

With that in mind, here are a few updates on where some York-Adams players will be going:

-- You may remember a few weeks ago, former Central York standout Tre Bowman gave his verbal commitment to play at Penn State. Tre's father, Terry Bowman, confirmed Wednesday that the 6-foot-4 guard had indeed signed his letter of intent to play for the Nittany Lions. For the story on Bowman's commitment, click here.

-- Former William Penn point guard Chemin Lambert will play at Penn State York. Bearcats coach Troy Sowers said Lambert made the decision to attend PSY on Tuesday.

-- Three others members of William Penn's starting five this season -- forwards Malcolm Murray and Tyvon Efferson and guard Ryan Matthews -- will continue their playing careers at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pa. Matthews was voted a Division I/II all-star by the Daily Record/Sunday News recently.

There is an interesting connection here. One of Northampton's assistant coaches, Jason Roscoe, was a former three-sport standout at William Penn. Keep an eye out for a story on him in the coming days.

There's a few more local players I'm checking on. If and when I get confirmation on those I'll post an update here.
