Tillotson named to AP all-state first team

Austin Tillotson can add another line to his basketball resume: First-team all-state selection.

Eastern York's junior point guard was given that honor Wednesday, when the Associated Press announced its Pennsylvania boys' basketball all-state selections. Tillotson was named to the Class AAA first team, while teammate Andrew Nicholas earned second team honors. The all-state selection was Tillotson's first -- a fitting end to a season in which he helped lead Eastern York to its first District 3 title in 22 years and a place in the PIAA Class AAA semifinals.

Tillotson netted 19.2 points per game this season for the Golden Knights, but his contributions went far beyond scoring. The guard, who was selected the Daily Record/Sunday News' Division III/IV player of the year, teamed quickness with superior court vision, and paced an Eastern offense which averaged 70.3 points per game.

Nicholas, meanwhile, earned his second all-state honor (he was named to the third team last year). The 6-foot-6 southpaw led Eastern in scoring at 20.9 points per game, and finished the season with 62 3-pointers. Nicholas already ranks as the school's career scoring leader with 1,842. Tillotson is third on that list with 1,515 career points.

Both, of course, will be back for one more season with the Golden Knights.
