Nicholas, Schrann named District 3 tourney MVPs

Not only did Eastern York's Andrew Nicholas and York Catholic's Kady Schrann lead their respective teams to District 3 championships last week. Each also earned individual honors for their stellar play.

Nicholas and Schrann were chosen as MVPs of their respective district tournaments by the Patriot-News. Nicholas averaged 23.8 points per game during the AAA tournament to lead Eastern York to its first district title since 1998. Schrann scored 23 of her team's 38 points in a title game victory over Lancaster Mennonite to earn the AA honor.

Six other YAIAA players (three boys, three girls) made the Patriot-News' District 3 All-Tournament team.

William Penn senior sixth-man Jevaughn Murphy made the quad-A boys team, while Eastern junior point guard Austin Tillotson earned triple-A honors. Hanover senior guard Ben Connor was selected to the AA boys squad.

In girls, Delone sophomore Sierra Moore and York Catholic senior Brittany Hicks joined Schrann on the AA team. Finally, West York senior guard Paige Elliott cracked the triple-A squad.
