HERSHEY -- I'm sitting courtside at the Giant Center, where moments ago defending District 3, Class AAA champion York Suburban was ousted in the quarterfinals by Steel-High, 55-47.

The third-seeded Trojans were down two late, before the sixth-seeded Rollers pulled away behind 6-foot-8 forward Jeff Davis. The senior had missed the last few games with disciplinary issues, but returned today to score 20 points, highlighted by three thunderous dunks.

Daily Record/Sunday News reporter Jim Seip will have the full story later, but in the meantime here a few quick post-game quotes.

Steel-High coach Mike Pilsitz

On forward Jeff Davis: He brings a dynamic. He's one of the best athletes in the state of Pennsylvania. So when he's on the court, anything we get out of him is a bonus. ... You have an athlete that nobody else has.

On when he knew Davis would be able to play (the senior has missed the last few games with disciplinary issues): We found out early this morning. He had a few things he needed to take care of.

On game plan to shut down Suburban's offense: We did not want to leave 44 (Trojans junior guard Kevin Donahue) open ever. We left him open one time all night and he buried it. We left him open another time and luckily he missed it.

York Suburban coach Tom Triggs

On whether he expected Davis to play: I didn't know what to expect. All week hearing so many rumors, you don't know what to expect.

On his team's lack of transition offense: What we did not do well was break. Our transition was poor. We held onto rebounds too long ... I thought we were too slow getting the ball to (Sean Hinnenkamp's) hands to break. We thought that was an area where they were a little weak.

On Steel-High's ability to get offensive rebounds: I thought at crucial times, they seemed to really hit the boards hard and come up with balls.
