Girls' district hoops projections have YAIAA flavor

In my previous post, I linked to the latest Patriot-News District 3 girls' basketball power rankings projections. A closer look at the rankings reveals a distinct YAIAA flavor.

In three of the four classifications, a York-Adams team appears at the top. Red Lion is rated tops in Class AAAA. West York sits atop the Class AAA rankings. And York Catholic and Delone Catholic sit first and third, respective, in the Class AA ratings.

Not a bad showing.

The District 3 committee will meet this weekend and should announce final seeds and first-round game locations on Sunday. Here's the complete list of YAIAA teams that look set for a District playoff spot:

Class A: None

Class AA: York Catholic (1), Delone Catholic (3)

Class AAA: West York (1), Kennard-Dale (8), Eastern York (17), Bermudian Springs (19)

Class AAAA: Red Lion (1), South Western (15), Spring Grove (16), New Oxford (17), Dallastown (19)

The Patriot-News' boys' rankings aren't quite as skewed in the YAIAA's direction, but there certainly are a few notables. York-Adams teams occupy three of the top four spots in the Class AAA projections.

Here are the boys teams currently in line for a district playoff berth:

Class A: New Hope Academy (3, not in YAIAA)

Class AA: Hanover (3), Delone Catholic (4), York Catholic (7)

Class AAA: Eastern York (1), York Suburban (3), West York (4), Kennard-Dale (18)

Class AAAA: William Penn (4), Central York (9), Red Lion (10), Dallastown (23)
