Hanover hosting canned food drives this month

The Hanover Athletic Booster Club will sponsor two canned good and non-perishable food drives this month, including one tonight when the Nighthawk wrestlers host Eastern York.

The club has sponsored similar food drives at Hanover athletic events this scholastic sports season. It's most recent drive occurred on Dec. 21, when the Nighthawks girls' basketball team hosted Littlestown.

Free admission will be granted to any student (from Hanover and otherwise) who brings two canned or non-perishable food items to the event. The school will host one more food drive on Jan. 27, when the boys' basketball team hosts York Country Day. Not that you really need an excuse to go see the Hanover boys' hoops squad, which is now 8-1 after a 59-49 win over YAIAA Division IV foe York Catholic on Tuesday.

All donations from the food drives will be given to the Hanover Red Cross Food Pantry for distribution to meet local needs.
