For the second straight year, the West York football team will celebrate Thanksgiving together.

Much like they did last November, the Bulldogs and head coach Ron Miller have invited the community out for the team's 10 a.m. workout on Thursday. But rest-assured, this workout will have quite a festive atmosphere.

"At 10 a.m., we'll have Christmas carols playing, our boosters will be providing donuts, hot chocolate, apple cider," Miller said. "We've invited the whole school, whether anybody comes I have no idea. We've invited the community to come and spend the day.

"My thought is that we have a lot to be thankful for here as an entire community, and it's just a lot of fun to do that."

It's an event that's fast becoming a Thanksgiving tradition at West York. Last year, the celebration occurred a day before the team's District 3 title game against Manheim Central, which the Bulldogs won, 15-7.

This year's celebration will precede third-seeded West York's District 3-AAA semifinal against No. 2 Susquehanna Township, scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m.

"It's a neat day, people will bring Bulldogs here. It's a memory," Miller said of the celebration. "It's probably one of the things I remember most about last season, was that day. Even more so than the Manheim game or going out to Altoona, was that day. That's a memory that I hope these guys will cherish as long as they're around, too."
