Injury concerns plague Central York

First the good news for Central York football fans: All-league tailback Charles Anderson should be ready to go for Saturday's District 3 playoff clash with Dallastown, Panthers coach Brad Livingston said Thursday night. An ankle injury sidelined Anderson for the second half of Central's 28-7 win against William Penn last Friday.

Now the not-so-good news: Central may be missing a few other starters by the time Saturday night rolls around.

The Panthers have been banged up of late, and several key players missed significant time against William Penn. The injury woes prompted Livingston to admit after the game "except for about two or three kids, we played most of the second half with the second team defense."

"We've gotten some of them back, others are going to be a gameday decision," Livingston said Thursday. "Probably the odds are we won't have some, but we won't know how things are looking until late Saturday afternoon."

Livingston declined to say which players could miss the game.

Defensive back James Culp was one of the walking wounded Friday after re-aggravating an ankle injury. Culp had three interceptions in Central's 34-7, Week 6 win against Dallastown.

Anderson also didn't play in the second half against the Bearcats thanks to an ankle injury. He led the YAIAA in rushing this year with 1,712 yards, and added 18 touchdowns.

"Charles is one of the guys we got back," Livingston said. "Obviously that's a big one and we'll just go from there."
