Saturday should a huge day for YAIAA sports. Really, huge isn't the word. How about gargantuan? Or perhaps colossal?

You get the drift. Anyway, district titles, state playoff berths and even state championships will be the on the line for teams in several sports. Here's a rundown of all the local teams that will be in action.

Girls' volleyball: Five YAIAA teams enter Saturday with a shot a District 3 title, as all three classes will hold their semifinals and finals Saturday. Three of those teams are in Class AA, where Susquehannock, Dover and Delone Catholic are all still alive. The Warriors will face the Squires in the first semifinal at 3 p.m. at Central York High School Saturday, while Dover will face Brandywine Heights. The winners square off at 4:30.

Spring Grove is among the final four in triple-A, and will play Exeter in the semifnals at 3 p.m. at Dallastown. Finally, in single-A, Hanover will play Holy Name in a semifinal at Wilson High School.

Boys' soccer: Both Susquehannock and York Catholic are facing third-place games with state title berths on the line. The Irish, the fourth seed in Class A, will play Lancaster Country Day at 3 p.m. at Northeastern. That game will be immediately following by the sixth-seeded Warriors' Class AA clash with top-seeped Palmyra.

Cross country: Up in Hershey, the YAIAA should have a decent presence at the state cross country championships. The York Suburban boys could compete for a Class AA team title (they won Districts and set a class record for team points). Dallastown's Chuck Lockwood could also be in the mix for an individual crown after winning the triple-A District 3 meet.

Girls' tennis: York Catholic sister tandem Anna and Ava Spoden will play a semifinal against Elise Carter and Tracy Gibson from South Park at 9 a.m. at the Hershey Racquet Club. If they win that match, and 1 p.m. date in the finals awaits them.
