Suburban QB Knaub a 'Gametime decision'

York Suburban coach Bill Kerr got some good news this week when he found out quarterback Jordan Knaub's injured shoulder wasn't broken.

But Kerr still doesn't know whether the injury -- which Kerr called a sprain -- will keep the Trojans starting signal caller out of tomorrow night's 7 p.m. game at Northeastern.

"It's still a gametime decision," Kerr said Thursday night. "It's not broken. It's actually a sprain right at the end of his collarbone. He has mobility in it ... There's still a little bit of pain there, so we're not sure what we're going to do."

The injury isn't as bad as first feared. Kerr said after Suburban's 30-21 win against Littlestown on Saturday that trainers had speculated the injury was a "bad bruise or a break."

Kerr said Knaub has been participating in practice this week, and will at least suit up against the Bobcats. Knaub also serves as Suburban's punter, a duty Kerr expected the senior would perform Friday, even if he doesn't play at quarterback.

"As the week progressed, it's gotten a lot better," Kerr said. "He is our punter. We may use him on offense, we may not. I know Jordan wants to go, but there still is a risk something could happen if he gets it the wrong way.

"He wants to play, but we'll see. A lot of it depends on how the game goes, as well."

If Knaub can't go, Suburban has a more-than-capable replacement in junior quarterback A.J. Sottasante, who played extensively last year when Knaub missed nearly the entire season with a torn tendon in his right ring finger.

"A.J. has a lot of varsity experience, we know he can step in," Kerr said.
