2015 L-L Football bold predictions: Week 6

I took a step back last week with four losses but my confidence isn’t shaken as we approach Week 6. For most teams, this is a pivotal point in the season where section title hopes ascend and sometimes…shatter. I’m putting the same pressure on myself this week.

Last Week: 9-4

Overall: 62-16

THE GAME:   Wilson (4-1, 2-0) at Hempfield (5-0, 2-0)

THE WINNER: Wilson

THE REASON:  I have a feeling something quirky is going to happen in this game but I can’t pick against Wilson simply on a feeling.

The undefeated Black Knights sport a high-powered offense with quarterback Sam Kramer and tailback Will Blair, who both rushed for over 100 yards in their win over JP McCaskey last week.

Hempfield will need that offensive firepower to come through against a Wilson defense that is allowing just 8.8 points per game.

THE GAME:  Manheim Central (4-1, 2-0) at Lancaster Catholic (2-3, 1-1)

THE WINNER: Manheim Central

THE REASON: The Barons will try to establish the run early and often against the Crusaders, who gave up 254 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns to Solanco in horrendous conditions last week.

While Catholic is better than they showed last week, I don’t see them mustering up enough to down Central this week.

THE GAME:   Annville-Cleona (3-2, 0-2) at Ephrata (0-5, 0-2)

THE WINNER: A-C

THE REASON:  This may be just what the Little Dutchmen need to get back on the right track after dropping two straight sections games.

The Mounts are giving up an average of 46.2 points per game and have scored more than seven points on offense just one time so far this season.

THE GAME:  Cedar Crest (2-3, 1-1) at Manheim Township (4-1, 2-0)

THE WINNER: Manheim Township

THE REASON:  Too many things going against the Falcons here. They’re on the road against a high-powered offense and they may be without their starting quarterback, Logan Horn, who was unable to finish the game in Cedar Crest’s 35-14 loss to Wilson last week.

THE GAME:  Donegal (3-2, 2-0) at Elco (2-3, 2-0)

THE WINNER: Elco

THE REASON:  This is an interesting matchup of two teams trying to stay undefeated in Section Three. Elco sports a better passing game but if there is rain in the forecast; this could come down to who turns the ball over less. I’ll roll with the home team on this one.

THE GAME:  Solanco (5-0, 2-0) at Lebanon

THE WINNER: Solanco

THE REASON:  The Cedars gave up 461 yards on the ground to Manheim Central last week and they won’t get much of a break in Solanco, who arguably has the most physical run game in Section Two. I’m all in with the Mules on this one.

THE GAME:  Columbia (0-5, 0-2) at Pequea Valley (2-3, 0-2)

THE WINNER: Pequea Valley

THE REASON:  If the Braves are going to turn their season around, this would be the week to do it. The Crimson Tide is allowing 47.4 points per game so far this season and could be what Pequea Valley needs to jumpstart their offense.

THE GAME:  E-Town (0-5, 0-2) at Lampeter-Strasburg (3-1, 1-1)

THE WINNER: L-S

THE REASON:  The Pioneers bounced back in a big way with a 21-14 win over Cocalico on Monday night and instead of feeling worn down from the short rest, I see them riding their new found momentum into Friday when they host the winless Bears.

THE GAME:  Garden Spot (3-2, 1-1) at Cocalico (3-2, 1-1)

THE WINNER: Cocalico

THE REASON:  Unlike L-S, I think Cocalico will feel a bit worn down after playing a highly physical game on Monday. That being said, I think their offense will start clicking a bit better after quarterback Dante Haines got his first start under his belt.

THE GAME:  McCaskey (1-4, 0-2) at Penn Manor (0-5, 0-2)

THE WINNER: McCaskey

THE REASON:  The Comets are having some real problems putting enough points on the board to stay competitive and while the Red Tornado hasn’t fared much better, they possess enough explosiveness on offensive to get the job done here.

THE GAME:  Warwick (1-4, 0-2) at Conestoga Valley (2-3, 1-1)

THE WINNER: CV

THE REASON:  Neither team is showing much consistency thus far but I’m taking the Buckskins simply because of their capability of scoring points in bunches.

Williams Valley at Northern Lebanon
