L-L legends stepping back onto the mat

One of the most common sports conversations is talking about the rankings of past athletes and rivalries. All too often, fans discuss how good a player or team was in their heyday and wonder if they have anything left in the tank.

Those conversations also linger in the high school realm, but now some of those disputes can actually be settled this Sunday at Franklin and Marshall College.

The Lancaster Lebanon League Wrestling Coaches Association (with the help of Lancaster Alliance Wrestling) is organizing the L-L League Wrestling All-Star Match, where wrestlers of the past will step back onto the mat.

There are plenty of interesting matchups on the bill, including Solanco head coach John Little taking on Donegal coach John Ambs.

According to a press released from Association President John Clair….

“This match serves as a fundraiser for the L-L Wrestling Coaches Association. All money that is raised goes directly towards their annual scholarship for books fund. Any former L-L wrestler who is in their 2nd year of collegiate wrestling receives a scholarship for books at the L-L League Tournament. The wrestlers will be placed on two teams and coached by former legends as well in a dual meet setting. The 1st match in 2013 ended in a 15-15 tie.”

L-L Hall of Famer Walt Price will be coach one of the teams on Sunday. Matches are set to get underway at 3pm.
