Hempfield fell short of another state championship on Saturday when they fell, 3-1 to Parkland in the PIAA Class AAA volleyball finals in Johnstown.

The Trojans and Black Knights have met for the state championship three times in the last four years with Parkland winning in 2011 and Hempfield winning in 2012.

After taking the first set, 25-21, the Knights dropped three straight to the Trojans by scores 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.

Hempfield ends the season with a Section One, L-L and District 3 title to their name in addition to 23-1 record.

Saturday marked Hempfield’s only loss of the year.
