Heavy collision in Solanco/Hempfield softball

Don’t tell these girls that softball isn’t rough.

In the seventh inning of Solanco’s 1-0 victory over Hempfield in the first round of the District Three Class AAAA playoffs, Hempfield’s Aubrey Hartman was attempting to score and bulldozed into Mares catcher Em Parmer.

Parmer absorbed the hit but dropped the ball. While this excited Hempfield fans initially, Hartman was called out for failing to slide and lowering her shoulder into Parmer.

“I was hoping she would get called out because that was a pretty big hit,” Solanco pitcher Kort Kreider said. “I thought she (Parmer) had a concussion or something. It was a good play and a good throw by Sam (Graver).”

The perks of being a catcher, eh?
