Downpour finally deters Hempfield/Conestoga Valley

The boys soccer match between Hempfield and Conestoga Valley nearly got played on Thursday in what felt like tropical storm-like conditions.

As I approached the Black Knights stadium, I saw the girls varsity match had already got underway and the two teams were playing what was probably the sloppiest and most fun game of their lives.

With 4:44 remaining in the girls match, officials stopped play and began inspecting the turf. After a quick meeting, that game was called with CV leading, 4-3 and the boys game was subsequently postponed until 4pm on Friday.

The L-L playoffs begin Saturday with CV (10-0-1) being the no. 1 seed and Hempfield (7-0-4) the no. 2 seed.
