Nothing relaxing about summer vacation for Brett Brooks

For some high school kids, summer is the time to unwind, relax by the pool and not worry about a thing until September.  For multi-sport athletes like Lampeter-Strasburg’s Brett Brooks however, the summer is when the real work starts.

Brooks is currently playing showcase baseball up and down the east coast, attending summer workouts for the Pioneers football team and is playing legion baseball on the side. Brooks said he sees his future being in baseball and is trying to play at the next level in college.

While he tries to make times for friends and family, Brooks admitted his schedule is pretty packed from June to August.

Despite the heavy workload, the incoming senior explained that he preferred it that way as opposed to taking the relaxed route because he thinks that the summer would appear to go even faster if he wasn’t using his time for athletics.

Brooks also said during the time that he isn’t playing sports; he spends time watching sports on TV.
