James Buchanan boys are movin' on up

For at least the last year and a half, Greencastle-Antrim's girls basketball team has been the area's highest rank squad when the District 3 power rankings were released.

That held true this on Wednesday, but watch out, Blue Devils - James Buchanan's boys are coming for you.

Now on a four-game winning streak, the Rockets have moved up to No. 11 in the District 3 Class AAA power rankings, with the top 18 teams qualifying for postseason. Greencastle's girls were ranked seventh in 3A.

James Buchanan is well deserving of the jump, though - it was ranked just 14th last Wednesday. The Rockets (10-4, 5-2 Mid Penn Colonial) are on a four-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 250-181 in that time.

In the last four games, five different Rockets have posted double-digit scoring performances. Ryan Hege has done it three times, and Zach Vosburg and Gage Piper have both achieved the feat twice. Hege posted a pair of double-doubles, and Vosburg had 10 points and 11 rebounds against Boiling Springs.

The defense has been equally as impressive. None of the last four opponents has scored more than 48 points against the Rockets.

With eight games left on its schedule, JB is third in the Colonial Division, but have a chance to move into a tie for a second when the top two teams - Greencastle-Antrim and Shippensburg - face off on Friday night. And with the way they moved up in the district rankings, never count out the Rockets.
