Buckley continues to roll in role change
Frederick Community College freshman Austin Buckley (Delone Catholic) is adjusting extremely well to his role change.
Buckley started off the season as an outfielder for FCC but after some struggles at the plate, was moved to the mound. He has responded extremely well to the move, logging nine innings in three appearances and is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and has struck out 15 batters while not allowing a walk.
In his last appearance against Coastal Caroline University Club, Buckley threw four innings allowing three hits and striking out eight to pick up the win.
MAC Qualifiers
Lebanon Valley College sophomore Noe Aguilar (Biglerville) and junior Mike Pugh (South Western) opened up the Spring track and field campaign in midseason form.
In LVC's season opening meet at Widener University, Aguilar through a Middle Atlantic Conference championship qualifying distance in the discuss with a throw of 126-0.
Pugh hit a MAC-qualifying distance of his own in the triple jump with a distance of 42-0.5 which was good enough for second place.
Camel continues to impress
Millersville freshman Arianna Camel (Gettysburg) continues to impress her coaches.
The Marauders opened their outdoor track season in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at the Shamrock Invitational and Camel finished in sixth place in the long jump out of 32 jumpers with a distance of 16-09.75 feet.
Flying high
Frostburg State University junior Chris Rickell (Gettysburg) opened the Spring season with a second place finish in high-jump at the Juniata Invitational with a height of 1.85 meters(6-00.75 feet).
Rickell is riding the momentum of a strong indoor campaign in which is had three top-10 finishes in the high jump, including an 8th place finish at the CAC Championships.
Janneh jumps past 28-year-old mark
Temple Owl sophomore Jamila Janneh (New Oxford) could not have asked for a better start to her 2014 outdoor track and field campaign.
Janneh broke a 28-year-old school record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.30 meters in the opening day of the Fred Hardy Invitational on Friday.
Janneh's jump broke the previous record of 12.24 meters that was set in 1986. Her jump also qualifies her for the ECAC event at the end of the season.
In addition to setting the record in the triple jump, Janneh also matched her personal best in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters to take third place.
Nace is ace
Kutztown's Ben Nace (Delone Catholic) is off to a hot start this Spring.
Nace is currently 6-0 in singles play as the Golden Bears have jumped out to a 5-1 start this Spring.
The junior is looking to build on a strong sophomore campaign in which he finished 11-4.
Nace also plays doubles with Rich Lichtenwalner from Parkland HS in PA. The two are currently 3-3 on the Spring.
