A Sneak Peak: Breakdown of Hanover-area District 3 boys basketball rankings (Jan 16th)


The most recent set of District 3 boys' basketball rankings has been released. Here is a look at where the Hanover-area teams stand.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AAAA (Top 20 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: WilsonHanover-area contenders: None

Rapid Reaction: There are three Hanover-area teams in Class AAAA. Spring Grove is the highest ranked team at 31st, South Western is ranked 32nd, and then New Oxford is 38th. It does not appear that these teams have a shot for the playoffs but there is still pride left to play for.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AAA (Top 18 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: Bishop McDevittHanover-area contenders: 4. Bermudian Springs, 8. Gettysburg

Rapid Reaction: Both of these teams can feel pretty confident that their bids in the District 3 playoffs are secure.

DISTRICT 3 CLASS AA (Top 10 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: ColumbiaHanover-area contenders: 2. Hanover, 4. Delone Catholic 9. Biglerville

Rapid Reaction: The Canners are currently on a six game losing streaks. Biglerville controls their own fate. Win out, and they will be in the District Tournament. Fairfield currently sits on the outside looking in. They are the 11th ranked team. Their last win came in 2013 but if they win and with some help, they could find themselves in district play

DISTRICT 3 CLASS A (Top 12 teams qualify for postseason)

Currently No. 1: Lebanon Catholic

Hanover-area contenders: NONE

Rapid Reaction: There are no teams in the Hanover-area in Class A
