The Week Ahead- 1/13 - 1/19
MONDAY, JANUARY 13
Delone Catholic at Susquehannock, 7:30 p.m. - At first glance, this matchup is not that intriguing. Delone Catholic sits at 7-5 and Susquehannock is 5-8. But when you look
deeper, it is matchup of two of the top three scorers in the YAIAA. Delone Catholic’s Devon Moore is averaging 19.2 points per game and Susquehannock’s Dan Ferraro is averaging 20.1 points per game. These two teams play in different divisions so this is the one time all season you will see these two top scorers go head-to-head
TUESDAY, JANUARY 14
Spring Grove at West York, 6 p.m. - The YAIAA’s top scorer goes against one of the YAIAA’s top teams. Spring Grove’s Morgan Arden is averaging 24.6 points per game. She has had three 30-plus scoring games and has scored over 20 points in 10 over the 12 games she has played in. West York is 10-2 and boasts a big-time scorer of their own in Kari Lankford (14.2 points per game). West York is one of the top scoring teams in the league and yet their stingy defense has allowed a mere 39.2 points per game.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15
Bermudian Springs at Delone Catholic, 7:30 p.m. - This cross-divisional matchup pits two of the Hanover-area’s top teams against each other. Bermudian Springs is almost like the Princeton of the Hanover-area teams in that they might not have the top athletes in the league, but they run every play to perfection. There is not a “me” type of player on that team. They have bought into the system and have a 10-1 record to show for it. Bermudian is also very defense minded. The Eagles are allowing a YAIAA low of 39.4 points per game. Delone is led by Moore but also have senior Andrew Austin down in the post. Austin is averaging 10.6 points per game.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 16
Spring Grove at New Oxford, 7:30 p.m. - This is going to be a huge night both on and off the mat. Prior to the match, New Oxford will be honoring former referee Stan Dutterer who passed last year. Two of Dutterer’s grand-daughters will be on hand to participate in the ceremony. When the two teams take to the mat it will be a battle between the top two teams in the YAIAA Division I. Both are 10-0 overall, and both are 5-0 in the division.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 17
Gettysburg at Greencastle-Antrim, 7:30 p.m. - The Mid-Penn Colonial’s leading scorer goes up against the divisions top team. Gettysburg’s 1,000 point scorer Cami Boehner is averaging 25.1 points per game including 30 three’s. Greencastle-Antrim comes into the game sporting a 12-0 record and four players who are averaging over 10 points per game. Gettysburg sits at 7-4 overall, but 5-1 in the conference. A win over Greencastle-Antrim puts the two teams even in the loss column. You want scoring, this game will have it. Boehner is a scoring machine and GA is averaging 56.3 points per game of offense.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 18
