College Roundup- Kiefer and Antonelli off to hot start, Gilbert, Reichart and Nichols earn honors


Settling right in

Gettysburg College’s Cody Kiefer has not missed a beat when it comes to his transition from high school basketball to college.

The 6-foot-5 freshman from Gettysburg High School scored a team-high 20 points in Gettysburg’s 66-63 win over Berry College in Florida on Friday in the Daytona Beach Shootout.

The 20-point performance was Kiefer’s second of the season. He is the teams leading scorer, averaging 12.8 points per game and also leads the team in 3-pointers made (14) and free throw percentage, going 23-for-24 (96%).

Gettysburg is off to a 4-5 start.

Antonelli leading the way

Lycoming senior Julia Antonelli is having a dominant season so far.

The New Oxford graduate is averaging a leads the team with 16.6 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game and is tied for the team-high with 11 steals.

The Warriors are on 4-3 and on a three-game winning streak. During the streak, Antonelli is averaging 15.6 points per game.

Recently, Antonelli became the 12th player in school history to reach 900 career points and also moved into the top 10 all time in school history in scoring. Her 10 rebounds against Misericordia moved her into the top five in school history.

Gilbert earns All-CSAC honors

Senior Anna Gilbert (Bermudian Springs) earned Second Team All-CSAC honors as a defender for the Immaculata Mighty Macs field hockey team.

Gilbert was second on the Mighty Macs with two defensive saves. Her save against Neumann helped lead Immaculata into the postseason.

She played a huge role on a defensive unit that gave up just 11 goals in seven conference games.

Nichols earns postseason honors

Seton Hill senior Natasha Nichols ( South Western) was selected to play in the 2013 Front Rush/NFHCA Division II North/South Senior Game.

Nichols finished the season second on the team with 14 points. She had 3 goals and a team-high 8 assists.

Reichart reigns in All-Conference selection

Susquehanna University senior midfielder Erica Reichart was named to the All0Landmark Conference Second Team.

Reichart was tied for second on the team with 5 goals and 5 assists on the season including a game winner against Lebanon Valley.

The Gettysburg High grad finished her career with 14 goals including 4 game winners and six assists.
