Comly named PAC Football Defender of Week
Washington & Jefferson senior Sam Comly was named Presidents' Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The Delone Catholic grad helped W&J to clinch their 23rd PAC title and also earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III playoffs by defeating Waynesburg 38-13 on Saturday in their regular season finale.
Comly had a team-high nine tackles, four pass breakups and two interceptions. Both interceptions came during key moments in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
Comly finished the regular season with a team-high 22 pass breakups, was second with four interceptions and sixth with 46 tackles.
On Monday, Comly was also named an honorable-mention selection to All-PAC team.
The Presidents head to Alliance, Ohio on Saturday to face defending national champion Mount Union, who enters the game a perfect 10-0.
