PIAA girls' lacrosse: Kennard-Dale, Susquehannock advance
District 3 champion Susquehannock won its first state playoff game in program history, knocking off Quaker Valley, 16-7, in a first-round PIAA Class 2A game Tuesday at Penn Manor High School.
Susquehannock led throughout, starting the game with a 5-1 run. The Warriors held a 9-4 halftime lead.
Riley Roeder led the team in scoring with seven goals. Emma Stiffler added three goals.
Kenna Hancock and Kayla Held helped run the Warriors offense, with each of them scoring one goal and each recording four assists.
"We battled," Susquehannock coach Steve Marshner said. "It was a game where we won the first five or six draws, but they went on to out-draw us.
"It was almost like a blue-collar, grind-it-out type of game."

Sam McGuire made 10 saves in net for the Warriors.
"She had a great game," Marshner said.
The win allowed the Warriors (21-3) to advance to a state quarterfinal Saturday at a site and time to be determined. They will face Hershey in a rematch of a competitive District 3 semifinal showdown.
Susquehannock defeated Hershey, 18-10, on May 22. Hershey earned the rematch by upsetting District 7 champion Hampton in the first round of the state tournament.
Senior Rachel Marshner scored a pair of goals early but suffered an ankle injury and did not return in the second half. Her status for the state quarterfinal on Saturday will likely be a game-time decision, Coach Marshner said.
"They are a good team," Marshner said of Hershey. "We know it's going to be a tough game."
Kennard-Dale 24, Danville 3: In Middleburg, the Rams (18-2-1) stepped back on the field for the first time since their loss in the district championship game and cruised to victory in the state tournament.
It marked the second consecutive season the Rams have advanced to the second round of the state tournament.
The Rams rolled against the District 4 champions at Midd-West high School.
Kennard-Dale will play Oakland Catholic, the District 7 runner-up, Saturday at a site and time to be determined. The bottom half of the state bracket now contains three District 3 teams, and a rematch of the District 3 championship game would occur if the Rams and Warriors each win their quarterfinals.
Radnor 13, York Catholic 6: In Royersford, the Irish managed to play the District 1 champion to a 5-5 tie at halftime. But Radnor outscored the Irish, 8-1, in the second half at Spring-Ford High School to advance to a state quarterfinal.
District 1 teams have won every single state championship in girls' lacrosse, dating back to that sport's arrival in the PIAA in 2009. The top half of the state bracket now contains four District 1 teams.
The game signaled the end of the season for York Catholic (16-4-1).
