3 York-Adams boys' volleyball teams advance in PIAA

Tuesday was a good opening day in the PIAA tournament for York-Adams boys’ volleyball.

Three of the four teams representing the YAIAA advanced to the second round with 3-0 wins. Dallastown lost to District 1 champion Pennridge in five games.

The second round will be played on Saturday at sites and times to be determined.

District 3 Class 3A champion Central York cruised to a 25-13, 25-20, 25-14 over Central Bucks East and will play Pennsbury in the second round. Pennsbury defeated Washington 25-19, 25-9, 25-18.

Dallastown and Pennridge went the distance at Quakertown. After dropping the first game 13-25, Dallastown roared back to take Game 2 25-23 and Game 4 25-16. Pennridge forced a fifth game by taking Game 4 30-28 and won the match 15-12.

In Class 2A, District 3 champion Northeastern and runner-up York Suburban easily advanced to the second round without dropping a game.

Northeastern defeated Berwick 25-9, 25-13, 25-12 to reach Saturday’s second round against District 1 champion Dock Mennonite, which was a 3-0 winner over North Pocono.

York Suburban topped Palumbo 25-7, 25-13, 25-3 to set up a meeting with District 7 champion Beaver County Christian. The preseason top-ranked team in the state defeated Cambridge Springs 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.
