District 3 girls named All-State in basketball
Girls' basketball players from central Pennsylvania once again earned statewide recognition in the Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Girls' Basketball teams announced Saturday. Three teams for each of the state's six classifications were selected by media representatives from around the state for the 2016-17 season.
Exactly one District 3 player earned first-team honors in each of the six classifications, led by Class 1A Player of the Year Alexis Hill from Lebanon Catholic. The junior led Lebanon Catholic to the state title, topping Juniata Valley in the championship game.
York Catholic's Kate Bauhof earned state honors for the second consecutive year. The junior led her team to a state semifinal appearance in Class 3A, losing to eventual state champion Neumann-Goretti. Bauhof brought home a second-team honor as a sophomore.
Greencastle-Antrim's Jenay Faulkner topped off her career by once again earning first-team recognition for the second consecutive season. It marked the third time the Holy Cross commit earned all-state honors.
The other District 3 players to earn first-team honors included Cumberland Valley's Katie Jekot (Class 6A), Lancaster Catholic's Kiki Jefferson (4A), and Camp Hill's Diamond Bragg (2A).
The boys' basketball teams were announced Friday.
