Dallastown grad remembered at candlelight vigil

The Daily Collegian reports that Penn State students and faculty held a candlelight vigil to honor Byron L. Markle — a former Dallastown student who died in a crash Friday near Penn State.

Markle was a three-year starter for the Wildcats' boys' golf team. Dallastown won the YAIAA Division 1 Championship in Markle's sophomore and senior years.

The Daily Collegian reports that "Markle was remembered for his warmth, sense of humor and passion for golf."

Ben Kennedy, who reportedly grew up with Markle in York, said Markle "'had the biggest heart" despite being the “smallest guy” on their high school basketball court."

His obituary describes him as an "avid golfer" that had "a passion in life and that was to make people laugh and to make friends."
