Team: Manheim Township

Classification: 6A

Head Coach: Mark Evans (30-17)

Last year’s fulcrum in a topsy-turvy Section One, the Blue Streaks have shown a knack for balance and big plays in all three phases of the game. One can expect more of the same from this year’s squad, albeit with different pieces in different places.

After the graduation of All-State QB Erik Benjamin, the Streaks lucked out when former Fleetwood standout QB Luke Emge transferred to Township. As a sophomore, Emge passed for 2,032 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2015 while adding over 800 yards on the ground and 11 touchdowns.

Halfback Matt Van Gordon and wideout Kade Kubicki, each of whom tallied nine touchdowns a year ago will also provide support.

Despite the usual holes to fill on the line and in the defensive backfield, Evans’ trademark emphasis on attitude, toughness and tenacity will likely shift the balance Township’s way once again.
