The L-L guys are back to break down the interesting landscape in Section Three as the 2016 high school football season approaches. Video by John Buffone
Team: Lancaster Catholic
Head Coach: Bruce Harbach (127-47)
It is the phrase that has been reiterated about Lancaster Catholic’ program the past two years, and the concept that has kept them from making the postseason in the same time frame
Last season, hopes for high for the Crusaders, as they had a nucleus intact to make a playoff run after a 4-6 season in 2014.
However, Lancaster Catholic began the year with a two-game losing streak and never quite got on track. The Crusaders did manage some impressive victories, but they ended the season with a three-game losing streak for an overall 3-7 mark.
This fall, the Crusaders once again will look for a consistent path and senior quarterback Bryan Downey will need to build on his impressive junior years. Downey threw for over 1,200 yards and broke the 1,000-yard barrier on the ground, while running for 10 touchdowns and throwing for six.
This year has also bumped the Crusaders to Section Three, providing them with a new landscape of opponents.
Junior Quincy Clark also is back after rushing for more than 300 yards and catching 14 passes. Seniors Jordan Scott (team-high 20 receptions) and Ron Poillon (18 receptions) also will be integral in the Crusaders’ quest to gain consistency and respectability.
