WRESTLING: Local PIAA Tournament pairings

First-round pairings for the PIAA Wrestling Tournament were released Sunday afternoon by the PIAA. Six area wrestlers have qualified for the Class AAA division.

The two local wrestlers who won District 3 titles last weekend – Chandler Olson of Shippensburg and Garrett Kyner of Chambersburg – will face wrestlers who must win a preliminary round bout.

At 126 pounds, Olson (32-1) meets either Nick Puliti of Garnet Valley (26-13) or Travis Smith of Nazareth (26-8), while Kyner will take on either TaNauz Gregory of Cathedral Prep (28-7) or Jake Hinkson of North Allegheny (30-10) at 132.

The three District 3 runners-up will take on second-place finishers from their region. David Rump of Chambersburg (35-6) faces Eric Thomas of Interboro (35-3) at 138, Drew Peck of Chambersburg (35-5) is up against Austin Bell of Belle Vernon (39-4) at 170, and James Buchanan 182-pounder Casey Glunt (30-1) takes on Milton Kobaly of Belle Vernon (38-9).

Greencastle-Antrim's Jared Starliper (31-5), who was fourth at districts, meets Zach Jablonski of Montour (32-3) in a preliminary round bout.

AAA wrestling begins Thursday at 4 p.m. at Giant Center.
