GIRLS BASKETBALL: Tori Yoder breaks career scoring record in Shalom Christian's win over Heritage

HAGERSTOWN >> Tori Yoder reached the summit of Shalom Christian basketball, and the girls led from start to finish in a 53-28 Mason-Dixon Christian Conference semifinal win over Heritage Academy on Friday night.

The Flames (15-4) will play in the MDCC championship on Saturday against Grace Academy.

Yoder finished with 27 points, and her 23rd gave her the all-time scoring record (boys and girls) in Shalom history. The previous record was 1,289.

"It was another goal that she set for herself coming into the season," Shalom coach Brad Eby said. "We knew it would be tough, but we're glad she was able to pull it off."

Yoder also added nine rebounds and nine steals, and helped Shalom jump out to a 19-9 lead. After the teams combined for just seven points in the second quarter, the Flames exploded again and outscored Heritage 22-7 in the third.

"We were able to have success with our press in the first quarter," Eby said. "We backed off of it in the second, but brought it back in the third and were able to pull away. We also had a great night as a team at the foul line (19-for-26)."

Lydia Harris added 11 points for Shalom, and Lauren Stains added four points and seven rebounds.
