BOYS BASKETBALL: Southern Fulton wins ICC championship in comeback fashion

CLAYSBURG >> Southern Fulton's boys basketball team just didn't look like itself in the first half of Saturday night's game.

Facing off against the one-loss Indians, Bellwood-Antis gave them all they could handle in the opening minutes of the Inter-County Conference championship. But despite facing a 12-point deficit at halftime, Southern Fulton regrouped and pulled out a 65-57 victory.

"This one was very nice because we really had to buckle down as a team, and the kids never quit," SF coach Kent Hendershot said. "We came out a little complacent, and they just lit it up. I don't know how many shots they missed in the first half, but it wasn't many."

Bellwood-Antis scored 36 points in the first half but was held to just 21 in the last 16 minutes.

"Defensively, in the second half, we played much more like the way we need to play," Hendershot said. "We dug ourselves a big hole, but we played with a lot more intensity defensively and started to execute better on the offensive end. We had a really big second half."

Connor Litton was a major part of the comeback for Southern Fulton (22-1). He scored 27 points, pulled down 20 rebounds and dished out three assists. Dylan Gordon hit four 3-pointers and totaled 21 points, while Trent Rider also contributed 11 points.

"Connor was just relentless on the inside tonight," Hendershot said. "They just couldn't defend him on the boards, and he played his butt off."

Mason Davis had a big night for the Blue Devils (17-6), also finishing with 27 points.
