MID PENN DIVING: Pair of local divers advance to districts


NEWVILLE >> It was a fine day for Franklin County at the Mid Penn boys diving championships on Monday at Big Spring High School.

The area produced two District 3 qualifiers in Class AAA.

Nick Cover, of Chambersburg, was the county's top finisher. The freshman placed third overall and captured silver in Class AAA with a score of 458.15.

"Nick put together an awesome meet last night," Trojan coach Ryan Crider said. "He stayed focused and poised competing in his first Mid Penns."

Following behind him was Shippensburg's Jared Keim, who finished fourth in AAA to earn his own district berth. He posted a score of 314.20.

The pair will head to Governor Mifflin on Feb. 21 for the District 3 championships.

Brandt Swartz, of Shippensburg, also competed, finishing 11th in AAA with a score of 179.20.
