Emily Gilbert had the hot hand — make that club — for the Boyertown girls golf team Tuesday.
Gilbert shot a 2-over-par 37 at Twin Ponds Golf Club. That left her the runaway leader in the Bears' PAC-10 match with Downingtown East, heading a 197-205 victory.
Olivia Steinmetz shot a 48, Katie Goida a 54 and Kelsey Evan a 58 for Boyertown.
Heather Flynn and Lindsay Ricken each shot a 50 to lead Downingtown East.
Perkiomen Valley 195, Spring-Ford 204: Perk Valley held off host Spring-Ford, led by Carly Dorminy with a 44 at the Linfield National Golf Course. Mary Eyde and Katie Pupillo carded a 50, Abby Stratton shot a 51 for the Vikings.
Peyton Incollingo was the low scorer for the Rams with a 48, followed by Gabrielle Lombardo (50), Bridgett Criswell (51), and Kelsey Hahn (55).
Pope John Paul II 1, New Hope-Solebury 0: A Bridget Rauh goal in the 28th minute of the first half provided the Golden Panthers their margin of victory over New Hope-Solebury.
Rauh scored on a cross from Kayla Mesaros. While the offense outshot its hosts by a 16-5 margin, the PJP defense was bolstered by Christine Germschied recording five saves and her second shutout of the season.
Reading 1, Pottstown 0: Yessena Torres, assisted by Gabbie Edinger, netted the game's lone goal to lift the Red Knights past the Trojans in non-league action.
Phoenixville 7, W.C. Rustin 2: Hat tricks by Hailey White and Bailey Quinn keyed the Phantoms in their non-league romp over W.C. Rustin.
Brogan Heisey rounded out the Phoenixville goal production with her solo tally. Kim Rutherford provided 13-save goaltending to help the locals run their early-season record to 3-0.
Sun Valley/Northley 1, Pottstown 0: Ebony Reddick's 16-save goaltending was the bright spot for the Trojans (0-2) in their non-league loss to Sun Valley/Northley.
Spring-Ford 5, Plymouth-Whitemarsh 2: In a non-league outing marked by numerous tiebreakers and three-set matches, Sonal Tyagi was the Rams' most dominating player against the Colonials.
Tyagi controlled PW's Sami Blum in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Spring-Ford's only other straight-set victory came at fourth doubles, where Caitlin Hart and Anna Kaing topped the Alexa Chapman/Morgan Greenbaum duo, 6-0, 7-5.
Wyomissing 4, Daniel Boone 1: In a matchup of Berks Conference member schools shortened by rain, Kristin Coateney provided the Blazers their lone highlight.
Coatney rallied for a 1-6, 6-2 (6) victory over Emma Thornton at third singles. It ended up the lone point for Boone (4-2), the Spartans taking the other matches in straight sets while the doubles were suspended by the weather.
Gov. Mifflin 3, Daniel Boone 1: The Blazers got their Berks Conference schedule off to a slow start in a four-set loss to the Mustangs. Boone won the third set 25-22, but Mifflin answered with a 25-12 victory after opening with 25-12 and 25-16 wins.
Sarah Roell had 12 kills for the Blazers, with Emily Houck adding 13 assists and three blocks. Courtney Vidovich had five kills, four blocks and an ace as Rebecca Feeney chipped in with six blocks and four kills.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Daniel Boone sweeps: Daniel Boone opened the season with sweeping the double dual meet, led by Abigail Snyder, who won the meet with a 21:28.93, while the Blazers Eidson crossed second and Rebecca Snyder third.
Boone beat Schuylkill Valley 15-49, and Oley Valley 21-37.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Daniel Boone splits: Daniel Boone split its season opener, beating Oley Valley 25-34 and losing to Schuylkill Valley 24-35. Christ Yeshulas was the first Blazer across, finishing sixth with a 19:42.89. Schuylkill Valley's Clay Stbpolepszy won the race with a 17:45.32.
