Dayna Shelly went 2-for-2 with a homer, double and four RBI Thursday afternoon as the Souderton softball team defeated Spring-Ford 9-5 in the District 1-AAA third-place game at North Penn.

Jaycie Loomis went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, Gabby Tareila was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Jess Nattle drove in three runs for the Rams (18-5), who will face the District 11 champion Parkland champion  in a PIAA Tournament opener Monday at Allentown's Patriots Park at 7 p.m.

Souderton opens states against the District 12 runner-up.



Valor Bowl: The Owen J. Roberts trio of Wyatt Scott, Steve Myers and Kyle Hinrichs helped the East defeat the West 39-7 in the Valor Bowl, Chester County's Senior All-Star Game, at Unionville. Scott ran for a 13-yard touchdown run for the East.

OJR's Dave Clarke, Hank Coyne, Brian Yetter and Jeff Dinnocenti served as assistant coaches for the East.



Pottstown PAL 1, Pottstown Junior Steelers 0: Nick Thomas' two-out walkoff RBI single plated Sam Widenhofer with the winning run as the Spartans notched the City-County Senior League victory.

Josh Pedorenko fired a two-hitter, striking out seven and walking none, for the Spartans (1-0, 5-0).
