Girls lacrosse

 

Mount St. Joseph 22, Villa Joseph Marie 9: Mount St. Joseph defeated Villa Joseph Marie, 22-9, in a Catholic Academies Association meeting on Monday afternoon. Izzy Balcer led the Magic with six goals and two assists, while MK Maloney added three and three. Abby Aita also scored three times, while Kaitlyn Meister recorded four goals and an assist. Christie Mischler, Amanda Steinberg and Caitlyn Cahill each scored twice, while goalkeeper Maddie Ferrero stopped 12 shots in net to earn the win.

 

Upper Dublin 13, Upper Merion 6: Upper Dublin dominated Upper Merion 13-6 in Suburban One American play on Monday afternoon. The Lady Cardinals outscored Upper Merion 7-1 in the first half and held on from there.

Julie Cross led the Upper Dublin charge with six goals and four assists. Taylor D'Ginto also had a very strong showering, scoring four and assisting on one. Rachel DiFrangia added a pair of goals as well.

Fran Lindelow led Upper Merion with three goals.

 

Episcopal Academy 11, Germantown Academy 5: Germantown Academy fell to Episcopal Academy, 11-5, in an Inter-Ac League meeting last Saturday. Jennifer Stack and Betsy Prezioso each scored twice to lead GA (4-3, 3-1), while Cooper Hall scored once. Allie Carrigan stopped 16 shots in net for GA in the losing effort.

Hatboro-Horsham 7, North Penn 0: Hatboro-Horsham defeated North Penn 7-0 in a Suburban One Continental Conference meeting on Monday afternoon. Alex Kleidon led the Hatters with two hits and two RBI, while Eric Thomas also recorded two RBI. Hatboro-Horsham pitcher David Brown went five strong innings to earn the win. The Hatters scored two runs in the first and then cruised to the victory, holding the Knights to just five hits. North Penn committed a whopping seven errors as a team.

 

Upper Dublin 12, Springfield 9: Christian Huckfeldt went 3-for-4 with three RBI and threw five solid innings on the mound to lead Upper Dublin past Springfield in Suburban One American play.

Seven different Cardinals knocked in runs on the day. Swiger went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Thompson also had a productive day, collecting three hits and a pair of RBI.

Pauwels led Springfield's offense, hitting two doubles and knocking in four runs. Quigg went 3-for-4.

 

Lower Moreland 7, Bristol 2: Lower Moreland put up five runs in the fourth inning and never looked back, topping Bristol 7-2 in Bicentennial League play. Nick Cerruti tosses a complete game while striking out eight.

Dom Cataline went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Jack Titus collected a pair of hits and an RBI of his own.

Jordan Pocrass had a hit and scored two runs.

 

Softball

 

Springfield 6, Upper Dublin 0: Springfield starter Jen Hammons threw a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out five in the Spartans 6-0 Suburban One American win over Upper Dublin.

Alyssa Ard led the Springfield offense, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Jewell Ringgold was also essential to the win, notching a hit and three runs scored.

 

Boys lacrosse

 

Wissahickon 16, Upper Moreland 7: Wissahickon received four goals from Tyler Zapach and three goals and four assists from Brooks Melvin in a 16-7 win over Upper Moreland in a Suburban One American Conference meeting on Monday afternoon. Pat Magdalisnki added two goals and six assists for the Trojans, while Jack Shea and Zach Scannapieco each scored twice. Jack Myers and Cooper McMasters stopped four and three shots in net, respectively, for Wissahickon.

 

Germantown Academy 4, Hatboro-Horsham 1: Germantown Academy received eight saves in net from Ian Davies in a 4-1 win over Hatboro-Horsham in what was a defensive battle between non-conference teams last Saturday afternoon. Garrett Trucksess led GA with two goals, while Max Derham and Jacob Jordan each scored one. Connor McPoyle scored the lone goal for the Hatters, who got nine saves from goalkeeper Marc Poust.

 

Girls track

 

Cheltenham performs well at Panther Classic: Last Friday night, the Panther Classic was held at Cheltenham High School. Ciara Leonard won the 100 meter hurdles for Cheltenham with a time of 14.04 seconds, while Dasia Pressley won the 100 meter run with a time of 11.74 seconds. Chanel Brissett finished in second place in both events, while the 4x100 relay team of Leonard, Janiel Slowly, Brissett and Katelyn Jackson turned in a state-leading time of 47.3 seconds for the Lady Panthers.

 

Tennis

 

Springfield 4, Upper Moreland 3: Springfield edged Upper Moreland 4-3 in a match that came down to second doubles. George Meiers and Sasha McVeagh won back-to-back sets after dropping the first to clinch the win for the Spartans.

Justin Reid, Zachary Harley and Kyle Bookman each on singles matches for Springfield before Upper Moreland dominated the doubles.

The duo of Enrique Mitchell and Matt Missenfeld won first doubles, while Ryan Varela/Tyler Racik and Mike Villar/Ryan Ly took third and four doubles, respectively.
