Upper Moreland 8, Upper Merion 5: Upper Moreland scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to come out with an 8-5 win over Upper Merion in a Suburban One American Conference game on Thursday. Eddie Decker earned the win for the Bears (2-1, 1-1), while Charlie Hooker led the way with a double, a triple, a home run and three RBI. Tommy Robinson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI for the Bears.

 

Wissahickon 12, Springfield 2: Wissahickon scored four runs in the third inning and followed that with seven more in the fourth in a 12-2 win over Springfield in a Suburban One American Conference game on Thursday afternoon. Matt Oruch led the Trojans with two hits and an RBI, while Jacob Segal also tallied a pair of hits. Connor Freeston went six strong innings, striking out five batters while earning the win. Both of the Spartans' runs came in the first inning.

 

Germantown Academy 8, Peddie School 4: John Aiello helped Germantown Academy to get past Peddie School by a score of 8-4 in a Thursday afternoon meeting at Peddie School.

Abington 5, Council Rock North 3: Abington upset Council Rock North 5-3 in a Suburban One National Conference game at Abington High School on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Chris Clewell pitched for Abington in the first few innings, while sophomore Greg Troyer closed things out in the final four innings to boost the Ghosts to the win. It was the first win of the season for Abington.

Upper Dublin 3, Norristown 2: Upper Dublin scored all three of its runs in the first inning and held on for a 3-2 win over Suburban One American Conference opponent Norristown on Thursday. The Lady Eagles committed three errors, while the Lady Cardinals committed zero. Rebecca Matricardi struck out five, walked zero and allowed three hits while throwing scoreless ball on the mound to earn the win for Upper Dublin. Allison Taylor took the loss for Norristown. Rachel Hyman went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI for the Lady Cardinals, while Rachel Stingel went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Mary Kate McInerney had one hit and drove in one run.

 

Springfield 16, Wissahickon 1 (3 innings): Springfield scored three runs in the first inning and then broke out for a whopping 13 runs in the third inning to get past Wissahickon 16-1 in a three-inning, mercy rule game between Suburban One American Conference teams on Thursday afternoon. Jennifer Hammons struck out four over three innings of work on the mound to earn the win. Alexis Wilmot led the Lady Spartans with two hits and three RBI, while Jewell Ringgold added an RBI and two walks. Kim Machalette added two hits and two RBI for Springfield.

 

Boys lacrosse

 

Hatboro-Horsham 6, Central Bucks South 5: Hatboro-Horsham received two goals from Zach Erwine in a 5-4 win over Central Bucks South in a Suburban One Continental Conference meeting on Thursday. Marc Poust stopped 15 shots in net and also added an assist for the Hatters. Tony Zollo, Connor McPoyle and Pierre Armstrong all scored goals for the Hatters, while Armstrong also added two assists. Hatboro-Horsham is now 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

 

Girls lacrosse

 

Villa Maria 12, Mount St. Joseph 8: Mount St. Joseph fell to Villa Maria, 12-8, in a Catholic Academies League game on Thursday afternoon. The Magic were led by Christie Mischler's two goals. Nat Bohner, Izzy Balcer scored once and Jenny Zoldy tallied three groundballs. The Magic were tied 4-4 at the half before falling in the second half.

Boyertown 18, Methacton 5: Kelly Glatthorn and Maddie Alderfer each score twice for Methacton as the Warriors dropped a PAC-10 contest to Boyertown Thursday.

 

North Penn 15, Abington 9: Emily Schulze was big reason North Penn started SOL National play with a win Wednesday as she finished with six goals, six draw controls and an assist as the Maidens topped Abington.

Sydney Lear scored three times, Chloe Novak had five draw controls and Michelle Dyck stopped 11 shots for North Penn (2-1, 1-0 conference), which visits Radnor 3:45 p.m. Friday.

 

Central Bucks West 21, Upper Moreland 1: Elena Romesburg collected her 200th career goal as the James Madison commit scored five times in Central Bucks West's SOL non-conference rout of Upper Moreland Wednesday.

Amanda Gundlach and Sarah Gebre each had three goals for the Bucks (5-0). Melissa Felicetti had Upper Moreland's goal.Boys tennis

Upper Dublin 7, Cheltenham 0: Upper Dublin defeated Cheltenham in shutout fashion, winning 7-0 on Thursday afternoon in a Suburban One American Conference match.

 

Upper Moreland 6, Norristown 1: Upper Moreland won its first match of the season thanks to a 6-1 victory over Norristown on Thursday afternoon. The Bears (1-6, 1-3) won all six winning matches in straight sets.
