Main Line high school rowers had some strong finishes at the first Manny Flick Regatta March 16. Here's a look at how the Main Line schools performed:

Academy of Notre Dame

The Irish entered four boats in three events at the first Manny Flick of the 2014 season, and logged decent rows, with two fourth place finishes, a fifth place and a sixth place. The JV 4X (quad) boat of sophomore Candace Burke, juniors Jane Gallagher, Taylor Mordy and sophomore Julia McAleer turned in a fourth-place finish. The Ltwt 4X (quad) combination of junior Jenny Zack, sophomore Abby Breen, and juniors Lexi Costa and Mickey Viola were dealt a rigger issue and managed a fourth place showing.

Two Varsity 4X (quad)boats consisting of senior Kelly Mannion, juniors Gabby Agnes and Katie Sarmiento, and senior Maria Biancaniello (captain) pulled out a fourth place finish, and senior Rachel Congialdi, sophomore Johanna Tomkiewicz, and seniors MacKenize Curry and Mackenzie Bonner (captain) managed a sixth place slot in a fast heat.

Episcopal Academy

EA had a good start to the crew season at the first Manny Flick, with one third place (Boys JV 8), three second places (Girls Varsity Four and Quad and Boys Varsity 8) and a first place (Girls JV 8, edging out Merion Mercy by one second).

Malvern Prep

The Friars had a good day, posting a first time win by Novice Quad (freshman Nick Conduit, sophomore Matt Casaday, junior John Kuyat and sophomore Kevin Munyan) followed with wins by the Varsity Double (senior Jimmy McManus, sophomore Brett Allan) and the Varsity Quad (seniors Jim Sincavage, Chris Frey, JP CLark and Jackson Connor).

Sacred Heart

The cold March wind didn't deter the Lions from enjoying their first regatta of the spring. Avelina Gargano and Shannon Mulgrew were first out on a sunny but blustery Sunday morning in the LTWT 2X, followed by Lindsay Johnson, Cece Hess, Caitie Carroll and Meg DiStefano, who powered to a strong second place finish in the LTWT4X. Junior Caroline Garvey placed first in the Varsity 1X and El Barton and Hannah Bushner finished strong in the Varsity 2X.
