NEWTOWN - Council Rock North announced college commitments for 17 of its student-athletes today (Thursday, March 6) including baseball players Tyler Callender, a catcher who is headed to Delaware, shortstop Aden Tully (East Stroudsburg) and pitcher Matt Renck (Pittsburgh).
Additionally, four track stars for the Rock are headed to college including Ross Wilson (University of Pennsylvania), Kaelyn Heinicke (Richmond), Nickie Van Thuyne (Monmouth) and Rob Simmons, who is headed to Alaska.
A diversified Class of 2014, there's just one football player on the list - Seamus Bishof, a big offensive tackle who is committed to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, one golfer in Erica Herr, who is going to Wake Forest and one girls soccer player, Leigh Ann Bertolet (Fairleigh Dickinson).
Two swimmers are taking their game to the next level including 200 and 500 freestyle District 1 champ Tommie Dillione and 50 free D-1 winner Brandon McCredie. Dillione is headed to Penn State while McCredie is going to West Chester.
McCredie will have company at WCU in soccer forward Alex Lean. The two plan on managing the Lady Indians varsity softball team this spring before heading south of the city next fall.
Meanwhile, David Wilczynski, a tennis player who is nationally ranked on the USTA Tennis circuit, is headed to Northern California, where he'll continue his game at Stanford.
Noa Jade Rothstein is headed for the Michigan crew team, Madison Gouza plans to play field hockey at Temple and Bailey Bigler scored big, committing to Notre Dame softball.
