ROYERSFORD — Spring-Ford exploded with five goals in the second half to beat Perkiomen Valley, 6-1, in a PAC-10 Liberty Division contest Monday afternoon at Coach McNelly Stadium.

The game was tied at 1-1 at halftime on goals by Spring-Ford's Emily Coyne, with an assist by Gabby Major, at 23:31 and then Perkiomen Valley's Emily Town on a rebound 35 seconds before the break.

The Rams went ahead to stay as Major scored off a penalty corner at the 28:32 mark of the second half with an assist by Alexa Rothenberger. Major finished the day with three goals and two assists.

Taylor Brennan made it 3-1 at 24:37 with an assist by Major. Major scored two goals in a row with assists by Brennan and Rothenberger, respectively, before Emily Stierle capped the scoring on a rebound with 2:30 remaining.

Spring-Ford held a 24-8 advantage in shots and 17-9 in corners. Perkiomen Valley goalkeeper Miranda Wesley recorded 18 saves (10 during first half) while Spring-Ford's Dante Vagnoni had seven stops.

Owen J. Roberts 6, Boyertown 0: Emma Christman and Ashley Kucera each netted a pair of goals to give the Wildcats the PAC-10 victory over the Bears.

Nettie Montes and Liz Karcewski also scored a pair of goals for Owen J. (9-0-1) with three assists from Maddie Mullen and one from Montes. Liz Tamburro and Ally Mooney combined for one save in goal to earn the shutout.

Upper Perkiomen 6, Pottstown 0: Casey Umstead netted two goals as the Indians defeated the Trojans in a PAC-10 match.

Maddie Fox, Mackenzie Lederer, Morgan Aldinger and Erika Maximuk also contributed a goal for Upper Perk (8-1). Sam Dingler posted two assists while Natalie Cuita had one. Tyisha Reddick made 19 saves in goal for Pottstown (0-9).

Methacton 4, Christopher Dock 1: Alexa Hoover's hat trick gave the Warriors the edge as they defeated Christopher Dock in non-league play.

Brittany Dickinson also netted a goal for Methacton (6-2-1) with an assist from Maddie Alderfer. Sammi Steele made 14 saves in goal for the Warriors.

Archbishop Carroll 2, Phoenixville 1: The Phantoms came up short against the Patriots in a non-league match.

Rose Moore scored the lone goal for Phoenixville (3-6) as Kim Rutherford made 12 saves in goal.

 

BOYS SOCCER

Boyertown 1, Owen J. Roberts 1: The Bears and Wildcats played to a draw in their PAC-10 match.

Barry Kabinoff scored in the 25th minute of the first half to give Boyertown (8-1-1) the early lead. But Taurean Lee tied the game for Owen J. (4-4-2) with a minute left in the first half off an assist from Ben Huzzard. Tim Lawlor made five saves in goal for the Bears (8-1-1, 10-2-1).

Spring-Ford 3, Perkiomen Valley 0: Matt Genuardi's two-goal effort was more than enough to give the Vikings (7-2-1) the PAC-10 victory over the previously-unbeaten Rams (9-1-0).

Scott Neal also scored for the Vikings on a penalty kick. Joe Adighibe contributed an assist in the victory. Corey Jackson posted the shutout for Perk Valley making three saves in goal. The Rams' Pat Swartz had four saves.

Pottsgrove 5, Pope John Paul II 3: Kevin Rodriguez and Ethan Abdalla each netted a pair of goals as the Falcons defeated the Golden Panthers in a PAC-10 match.

Travers Mutton also contributed a goal with an assist from Abdalla for Pottsgrove (4-6-0). Nick Mares scored two goals for PJP (2-5-1) while Daniel Jucker scored one.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Boyertown 3, Owen J. Roberts 1: Boyertown got the better of archrival Owen J. Roberts, with the Bears storming out to a 3-0 lead before the Wildcats could answer.

Lily Fanok and Megan Diehl scored in the first half for the Bears, while Taylor Halteman scored midway through the second half make it 3-0 for Boyertown. Taylor Sassaman and Kasey Sheahan each had an assist for the Bears, who remained undefeated at 8-0-2 (10-0-2 overall).

Kate Dempsey scored for the Wildcats late in the game.

Bears keeper Sarafina Valenti made seven saves, while Cats goalie Kristen Emig had nine saves.Spring-Ford 4, Perkiomen Valley 0: With a strong effort on both sides of the ball, the Liberty Division first-place Rams shut out the Vikings in a PAC-10 match.

Megan Giannopoulos, Tessa Nykanen, Sammy Stipa and Aley Kate McKinley each scored a goal for the Rams (9-0-1) with assists from Kristen Baumgartner, Sarah Hancock and Gabrielle Vagnozzi. Kelly O'Brien made 10 saves for Perk Valley (3-7-0).

Pope John Paul II 2, Pottsgrove 0: Lillia Walls scored a goal and contributed an assist as the Golden Panthers (2-6-0) earned a PAC-10 victory over the Falcons (1-7).

Bridget Rauh also scored a goal for the Golden Panthers, who got an assist from Courtney Thompson and strong midfield play from Lauren Dao. Christine Germscheid made seven saves in goal.

Upper Perkiomen 4, Pottstown 0: The Indians wasted no time as they scored all four of their goals in the first half of a PAC-10 match against the Trojans.

Jess Spano scored the first two goals for Upper Perk (9-3-0) while Kayla Smith and Megan Ritting each scored one. Haley Stauffer posted two assists while Smith had one. Alaina James posted 12 saves in goal for Pottstown.

 

GIRLS GOLF

Spring-Ford 200, Hatboro-Horsham 201: Consistency was the name of the game for the Rams as they defeated Hatboro-Horsham in a non-league match at Linfield National.

Peyton Incollingo led Spring-Ford shooting a 48 followed close behind by Brandes Yenchick with a 49. Steph DiGuisseppe finished third for the Rams with a 51 as Meghan Lui closed it out with a 52.

 

GIRLS TENNIS

Spring-Ford 5, Souderton 2: The Rams had an edge in both the singles and doubled brackets as they defeated Souderton in a non-league match.

The most impressive singles showing for the Rams came from Natalie Wright posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Tomomi Mitsuzuka and Rachel Harrison won their doubles match by 6-2, 6-3 scores.Coatesville 7, Pottsgrove 0: The Falcons suffered a sweep as they lost to Coatesville in a non-league match.

 

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Spring-Ford 3, Sun Valley 0: The Rams rolled to a straight-set win, 25-17, 25-16, 25-20. Seniors Sammie Rowell and Josie Swenson each had 10 kills. Senior Tara Colgan had three aces, 16 digs and seven kills while Catherine Burger had 43 assists for the Rams.

West-Mont 3, Kimberton Waldorf 0: Jenny Lenko's 15 aces helped to push the Wings past Kimberton Waldorf in a non-league match.

Moriah Suzuki contributed six assists to give West-Mont Christian Academy the sweep.
