PLYMOUTH — Both North Penn and Saint Joseph's Prep came to Plymouth-Whitemarsh on Saturday prepared to put a rough second week behind them. The Hawks did an excellent job of it, while the Knights 35-6 loss has them still searching for their first win of the season.

If the 49-3 loss to Archbishop Wood was not a wake-up call, the Hawks hurry up offense had the Knights on their heels all night. The defense could barely locate their assignment before the Philadelphia Catholic League squad was off and running.

"We saw that offense against LaSalle,' Knights coach Dick Beck said. "I don't think it is hard to replicate in practice, I just think we are a little undermanned. We trying to keep things simple with young guys playing.'

The Hawks were confident they could score from anywhere on the field. They allowed the Knights' punter Anthony Cameron to get off two punts deep than 40 yards, yet both drives resulted in scores. The 80 yard and 98 drives were capped off by junior running back Olamide Zaccheaus.

"We are going to treat this start like we are 0-0 and the season starts this Friday,' Beck said. "Our inexperience and lack of knowledge of the offense makes it hard sometimes.

Zachheaus ran for 48 yards on five carries in the first half. The five different ball carriers combined for 153 rushing yards and Vince Moffett led all rushers with 75 yards. Senior quarterback Chris Martin threw for another 165 in the first half and took a seat for the entire second half with.

The Knights were limited to 127 total yards of offense in the first half. Senior quarterback Austin Shearer finished with 159 passing yards including a 17 yard touchdown pass to Justin Hudimac late in the fourth quarter, but too many drives were stalled in short yardage situations.

Shearer connected on his first five passes, including a 24-yard strike to senior wide receiver Justin Hudimac. The hope was there early they could compete with the team that was coming off a 42-0 defeat at the hands of Don Bosco Prep (NK), but those hopes quickly faded.

"I thought if we did not a few missteps in the first half it could have been a lot closer,' Beck said. "Obviously 36-6 is not what the program is all about.'

If the Knights are looking for a silver lining it can be found in the hard-nosed running of sophomore Nyfease West. The receiver converted to tailback for the night and ran 10 times for 47 yards. It was just one of a few position changes the Knights made for the game.

"We are going to put the guys that want to play, and play hard on the field,' Beck said. "The key is we want to get as many young guys reps as we can.'

The Knights have seen some of the best Eastern PA has to offer in the first three weeks and now need to rebound quickly the Suburban One Continental Conference schedule starting up with Central Bucks East next Friday back at Crawford Stadium. The early season schedule has made it tough to tell what is in store for the remainder of the season. Possibly the Hawks handling of the Knights will have coach Bick rethinking his non-league schedule for next year.

"I love the challenge and we have to play better against these guys,' Beck said. "I don't think they will want to schedule us if we are playing like this. We will reevaluate later.'
