Boys' basketball in York County stretches back to the 1923-24 season when the York County Scholastic League was formed with six teams: Glen Rock, Red Lion, Spring Grove, West York, Wrightsville, York College Institute Juniors.

Did you also know that:

--- Red Lion claimed the first league title in 1924, defeating Spring Grove, 29-10. The Lions dominated the first 10 seasons of hoops, winning six of the 10 championships.

--- In 1939, Dallastown became the first York County Scholastic League team to play in the District 3 tournament, losing to Arendtsville, 30-24.

--- In 1951, Dallastown defeated North York, 46-33, in the league title game, but North York protested at the end of their season because Dallastown scrimmaged at York Catholic -- the neutral site of the game -- and scrimmaged against York Catholic before the title game. Those infractions broke PIAA and league rules, and the league vacated the title.
